Techniques for planting and caring for ginger plants

The best time to plant ginger is in the spring of February – March of the solar calendar. Ginger is not picky about soil but needs to be planted in humus-rich soil with light mechanical composition and good drainage because ginger is a plant that does not tolerate waterlogging. Selection of varieties is also extremely important, it is necessary to choose old, glossy, mushy tubers with at least 2 germ eyes. Before nursery, it should be treated with fungicides to prevent disease.

During the care process, workers need techniques to ensure that the ginger plant grows normally and delivers high quality and productivity. Vipsen has guided farmers methodically planting and caring for ginger and dealing with problems arising in the care process such as pests, fungi, fertilizers and fertilization techniques, etc.

Harvest

After 7-8 months, the ginger root is old and it is time to harvest. At this time, the leaves of the ginger plant will turn yellow and yellow and then fall. If you want to harvest fresh ginger, you need it earlier, about 5 months after planting. It is necessary to stop watering in preparation for the harvest. Choose a sunny day to harvest ginger.

During the harvesting process, it is advisable to dig carefully so that the ginger root is intact, not chipped or crushed, broken, scratched easily creating conditions for pests and mold to penetrate and ensure the quality of the ginger root is preserved.
